When your child comes home with bright red lips and a candy cane sticking out of their mouth almost every day in week, it’s no wonder you’re consider changing your candy cane gift idea.
If anything else, those children need a change from candy canes!
I’ve loved the reindeer noses gift  since I saw it here but I couldn’t find one that I really wanted to download, so I made my own.
I prefer to make our gifts more environmentally friendly, so we added the sweets to a little handmade paper bag instead of a plastic one (instructions below).
These tags have Reindeer facts on the back too! While the children are chomping away on reindeer noses, I hope they turn the tag around and learn a little bit about the reindeer, where they live, what they eat and some of their amazing adaptations.
 Reindeer noses paper gift bag
Miss Possum’s new school has no tuckshop. Â True! Since moving from her other school, these paper lunch bags have been sitting in my kitchen drawer for well over four months. I’m glad I still had them because they were easily made into mini paper gift bags.
You’ll only needed six brown paper bags to make the mini gift bags for the whole class.
- I cut them into quarters.
- For any side that isn’t glued, cut about .5 cm from the front piece of the mini paper gift bag so that one side of the paper is slightly longer than the other.
- Using non-toxic glue, flip the longer piece over and glue it to the front paper. Some of the quarters may need the bottom of the bags glued too.
Viola, beautiful mini brown paper bags.

Next, download these printouts:

- You can either cut out the front and back circle printouts and then glue them on top of each other, which would make it really simple, or you can make them into a firm cardboard tag (which is how I wanted mine to look). Recycle a few cereal boxes and paste the front of the tags onto the cardboard. Using a glue stick works best.
- Once the glue is dry, cut the tags out. Then, cut out the back tags and glue them on to the back of the cardboard circles. Easy!
- Use a hole punch to put a hole in the tags and the paper bag and tie the tags on with brown string (which much to my delight resembles antlers).
- Fill each bag with 8 Maltesers (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen) and one red Jaffa (Rudolph).
Your kids will love giving these reindeer noses out to their classmates.
Before giving them out, check with the teacher to make sure there aren’t any children with allergies in the class. If there is a child that can’t have this Reindeer Noses gift well, the Candy Cane Clingers would be a hit for them!
What are you giving out to your child’s classmates this Christmas? I’d love some ideas for next year!
These look sooooo good! I really love the effect in the paper bag even more than the cello bag ones! 🙂 What a great surprise! 🙂 Such a lovely printable Penny – I think I might use this for some simple gifts for my hubby’s colleagues! 🙂
Thanks Bek, I really liked the brown paper bags too. They turned out really cute.
These are awesome!
A few years back my girls had all kinds of odd questions about reindeer… wish I had been able to print these back then!
Thanks Kate! Even I didn’t know that they ate lichen!
So cute!
Thanks for the printable love the facts
I made a bunch of these as pressies last year but used plastic bags. Paper bags would have been so much nicer. I think I’ll make another batch this year for all the rellies. The facts are a fabulous idea too 🙂 No one could resist turning it over and having a little read.
I hope they did, although most children in prep probably got their parents to help. I think I’ll be making something similar next year too
Every year I see these reindeer nose treat bags. I think they are adorable. But your tags are so unique. I absolutely love that you have included facts on the back of the tags. Thank you
I’ve never seen reindeer nose bags until Pinterest Jackie. I’m not sure if anyone from the prep class had either, so I looked very creative lol.
Cuteness overload 🙂
They look great, I love how you cut down the big bags to make small ones 🙂 Bet Miss Possum’s friends all loved them too!
It worked so well too! I love brown paper bags!
So CUTE! I love that you put reindeer facts on the tag, that is such an awesome idea.
This is so great Penny. Shared on LKL
What a fun gift to give and receive! Such a great idea to include reindeer facts on your wonderful tags.
