I think you’d agree that every child should play with sticks, that every child should create with sticks and every child should build with sticks.
It’s pretty easy to allow children to build with small sticks but it takes some decent rope-tying skills to build something big.
Well, it used to be.
I was introduced to Stick-lets last week.
They are flexible connectors made of silicone and their main purpose is to join sticks together.
I looked at them and wondered how they would work, what we could make and if it would really hold.
Take a look at what we built!
We built that stick fort without even looking at the website.
Then I watched the video with my kids and we were super inspired to try more.
What we love about Stick-lets:
- The different sized holes in the Stick-lets were really useful for joining natural branches of different shapes and sizes.
- Twisting the Stick-lets made the stick structure stronger
- They were strong enough to support many sticks in one hole
- They were perfect for smaller stick crafts too
Using Stick-lets we also made:
Stick  swords
Stick animals
A stick easel
What we’re going to make next:
- Â A tunnel
- A fort big enough to fit three children (and their mama!)
- A little plane
- A swing for a doll
- Photo frame
- A catapult
- A mini bridge
I’m also looking forward to building more structures and then covering them with leaves and grass or fabric (add mini circus tent to the list above).
What your children can make with these silicon connectors is endless.
I can only imagine the pretend play, toys, constructions and huts we can build using these connections and sticks. They fit perfectly on a shelf in our nature craft play space.
It’s another fantastic resource for encouraging kids to play with nature and engage in meaningful outdoor activities that will create long-lasting childhood memories!

Oh my goodness! We have these and love them – these ideas are brilliant!! You’re too clever!
Thank Rachel, they are so much fun aren’t they!
Awesome, love them!!!!!! How creative.
Thanks Chelsea. The creativity is endless with these Stick-lets. I’m leaving our fort there for as long as possible. The kids love it!
These are fantastic!!!!
Love everything about this…I can’t even!
Thanks Kell. It was such a fun activity. I couldn’t help getting into stick building!
Awesome!! My son would go wild over these, he is always carrying sticks around and making things with them. He would be able to take it to new places with these!
Kell, they come in a small bag so they’re very portable. I can’t wait to take them camping!
We have some and LOVE them! But I love the idea of making a little easel! Must try that!
I reckon you could make a big easel too Kate!
I love what you created!! Makes me want to go and gather a lot of sticks! The easel and animals! Such cool ideas and I love your future plans. Can’t wait to see them!
I could imagine you collecting sticks Debs. I am so lucky there are plenty around my house. It takes me 2 minutes to collect some.
Wow! What a fabulous tool!
Thanks so much for popping by Christie. I really appreciate it. xx
Oh we LOVE our sticklets. Aren’t they the best. You have come up with so many uses for them and that stick fort is beautiful!
Thank so much Ness. Yep, they are totally the best. I wish I’d thought of them!
