The prettiest leaf bracelet you will ever see!

I’m falling in love with hole punching leaves and during a little blog holiday, I couldn’t help get creative with them. Coupling familiar shapes with stunning leaves from nature just works.

This leaf bracelet is quite easy to make and a child over five could do most steps on their own but I think it’s more fun when you work together to create it.

Leaf Bracelet materials:

• Semi dry  to completely dried out Leaves –  try to collect leaves with different colours and patterns
• Star hole punch
• Recycled fishing line
• Recycled bracelet clips
• Modpodge or a good quality craft glue
• Candle and pin (to make holes in the star shapes)

How to make this star leaf bracelet

1. Use your hole punch your leaves to create beautiful  star shapes.

2.  Paint your star shapes with clear drying craft glue. This will make them stronger. I did two coats on both sides.

 3.  (This step requires full  adult supervision).  Light a small candle. With thick wet cloth, pick up the pin at the sharp end. Put the pin head into the fire of the candle until it burns red. For each star leaf shape, burn two small holes like the image below. I felt Miss Possum was too young to participate in this step. She just watched.

4. Tie your fishing line to one of the bracelet clips.  A parent will need to ensure it’s tight.

5. Let your child thread the stars onto the fishing line. Go down through one hole and then up the next, almost like you’re stitching.

6. Keep testing the bracelet on your child’s arm so that you don’t make it too long. Once it’s the right length, tie the other half of the clip to end of the fishing line.

 

I simply adore her nature bracelet.  I’ll be making one for myself one too!
