If your children are anything like mine, they’ll enjoy moving like animals, relaxing with some animal yoga and singing animal songs.
Here are twelve of the wildlife songs my kids love to sing to – some might bring back fond memories, while others are more current.
Grab your child and watch or dance to these great tunes. Can you think of more?
12 Wildlife Songs for Kids
1. So Many Animals – Hi 5
This was my daughter’s favourite song. I think we listed to it over 300 times! (No, I’m not kidding). Even after listening to this song over and over again, I still like it.
Is that weird? It’s just too catchy!
2. Doing It by Justine Clark
This wildlife song is really beautiful. It’s more calm than energetic, the perfect song to play at night before bed time.
3. Please Don’t Call Me a Koala Bear by Don Spencer
An oldie but a goodie. If you like koalas, you’ll love this one.
4. Riding in the Pouch by Dot the Kangaroo
This one is showing my age… but I couldn’t help adding one of the songs from Dot and the Kangaroo!
You really couldn’t and wouldn’t want to ride in the pouch of a kangaroo. Mucous galore! Eww.
5. The Monkey Dance by The Wiggles
My daughter never really got into the Wiggles, but I think that’s only because she was too obsessed with Hi5!
6. Toad, Frog, Pollywog by Waffletron
We found this gorgeous song on Youtube and it’s been a popular go-to ever since. It’s adorable with a super catchy tune.
7. Dinosaur Roar by Justine Clarke
Can you tell we like Justine Clark? She has some great songs. The kids adore this one, too!
8. Baby Beluga by The Wiggles
We added this one because, well… where else would you find a song about a baby Beluga? Very original.
9. The Penguin Strut by Don Spencer
Penguin, anyone? We love to dance like a penguin.
10. Bilby Rock by The Rockin’ Rangers
My girls saw the Rockin’ Rangers many years ago and they were fantastic. I do really wish they made it as a big kids group. They had some wonderful wildlife songs. This was the only one I could find online, though.
11. Never Smile at A Crocodile
A popular well-known song about a crocodile… snap!
12. I Met a Bear
Scout songs are always great fun. We found this recently and the kids love it!

Quite a few people have also mentioned the songs at Secret Gully. They have a nice Bilby song here.

I’m teaching the boys a few Indonesian songs and there are ones about animals.
Great list you’ve got here, Penny!
I can’t think of any more (you have quite an impressive list!) ,but if I do I’lll come back and let you know. Ps I suspect I’ll have Hi5 “So many animals” jigging around my head all day now that you’ve reminded me of it. It’s so catchy!
My fav is about echidnas by Don Spencer. I am not really sure of it’s name but I have all the words in my head
Occasionally he spikes me, deep down I know he likes me, it’s fun to have an echidna of your own.
Mind you what Don Spencer song isn’t awesome!
Love all the wiggles songs and Justine Clark’s songs. they are so catchy.
Great list! Rachel x
Dot and the Kangaroo! Ahhhh I loved it! that is all.
Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gumtree, or Kookaburra Sits on the Electric Wire is a great and simple one to teach kids from overseas. I love 5 Little Ducks, Kaglook Said the Little Green Frog, and I second Don Spencer’s songs!
I agree with Misha, an impressive list. Love Wiggles Monkey Dance…I mean my daughter does lol 🙂
“Polliwog in a Bog” by the Barenaked Ladies (Canadian)
“Mouse in my Tool Box” Laurie Berkner (USA)
Two of our favorite animal related songs!
LOVE your unique list! I am a mom of four, and a grammy. I teach prenatal and family yoga (Sunshine Family Yoga on FB), and have an early childhood background. I thought Toad, Frog, Pollywog was cute. Dinosaur Roar is great to use with our DINOSAUR YOGA POSE. Here are some that I thought of; One Elephant (Went Out to Play), All the Little Fishes, The Ants Go Marching, Three Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree, Going on a Bear Hunt…
A BIG THANKS for all you do!!! Keep up the great work!
