This Christmas nature garland literally took me less than 20 minutes to make once I had collected the nature for it (and made some little crafty leaves with Miss Possum). I wish I’d made this years ago because it was such an easy decoration to make and I love how festive my house looks now. Best of all, it cost me nothing!
I’d collected some beautiful big leaves from work one day and Miss Possum and I decided to cut them into Christmas shapes. Miss Possum used our cookie cutters as a stencil and drew around it. It was my job to cut them out.
Two weeks later, I took the girls for a bush walk hoping to get some inspiration and found some lovely gum nuts and a tree that branched off into beautiful Christmas tree-like leaves. They were perfect for a nature garland along with our Christmas leaf decorations!
I measured our large window at the back of the house and cut a long piece of string the same length. I cut the small bunches of leaves off and using more string, I tied them to the full length of string. I cut off any extra bits of string that were left dangling.
It would be very easy to supplement my nature with nature that grows around you.
Once I’d tied the Christmas tree-like leaves on the garland, I lay it out on the floor and split the gum nuts up to sit evenly across the length of the string. I tied them on. Then, I used a hole punch to make it easy to tie the leaf decoration on the string. I lay the leaves out evenly along the string and tied them on to the length the string too.
The Christmas nature garland was just so simple to make and looks stunning. I can feel the festive season right around the corner!
