This stick skeleton craft made my skin crawl and I thought, perhaps, they were too scary for the kids to make. I do, however have kids who are quite comfortable with things other kidstremble about, like snakes and spiders. They told me that the stick skeletons were apparently not scary at all but “really cool!”
I stand corrected.
I guess Halloween is for scary things, so I quickly got over it. Actually, I didn’t quite get over it. Â When the girls made their own, I begged them to add some colour to make theirs a little less chilling. It did help, so if your children are easily spooked just add some colour.
What you’ll need
- Acrylic paint
- Sticks
- Paint brushes
- String
Stick skeleton craft: how to make them
This craft is very simple. I forgot to take photos though, so do follow the steps and check out the video below because it  will show you exactly what to do!
-
- Â Go outside with your kids and collect some sticks. You’ll want to look for sticks that are a little thicker – more like a branch.
- Paint all of the stick black, or again, if you have children that may be a little sensitive to scary things, add some colour. We tried dark purple, blue and green.Â
- Â Once your stick is dry, you can start painting on the skeleton. Check out the video below to help. It’s actually really easy when you follow the video.
If you love this activity you’ll love these spooky ghost leaves!
Hang them up around your front yard or in your house. They are bound to give your trick or treaters chills!
